VOLUNTEER HERE!
Volunteering is a great way to participate in your child’s educational experience and meet other Copper Ridge parents and staff! While we appreciate the financial support that we receive, it is the time and talents of our parents that really make our activities successful! It is with your willingness to help combined with the efforts of Copper Ridge PTO that we can continue to provide the programs and activities that make this a great school.

Copper Ridge School Volunteer Team Descriptions

SPECIAL EVENT TEAMS

BOOK FAIR TEAM: TIME FRAME: (AUG - SEPTEMBER)
Our Book Fair is held Friday, September 23, 2011 thru Friday, September 30, 2011 the Scholastic Book Fair is a week long opportunity to purchase Scholastic books for your child, your child’s classroom, the library or as gifts. The Book Fair is open to all children and families before and after school. During the school day, each class is scheduled to visit the Book Fair. Additional events such as Donuts for Dads, and Teacher Wish Lists are also planned to make the week even more fun! Team Members are needed for planning event and many volunteers are needed the day/week of the event.
Team Responsibilities include: Ordering supplies from Scholastic; Classroom scheduling; Volunteer Coordination; Theme decoration design, set-up/clean up; Book display set-up/clean-up; marketing; clerking/cashiering; Supply maintenance.

CARNIVAL TEAM: TIME FRAME: (SEPT – NOV)
Copper Ridge Carnival is a community event that is held on November 4, 2011 5:00 PM on the campus playground. The entire school staff, families and friends are invited to participate. Unlimited ride wristbands are available for all rides. There are carnival rides, bounce houses, carnival games with prizes, a DJ and food/treats.

As a fundraiser, each class is asked to collect donations for a themed basket valued around $250 and these baskets are displayed and raffled at the Carnival. Team Members are needed for planning event and many volunteers are needed the day of the event.

Team Responsibilities include: Ride and prize vendor selection; Volunteer Coordination; Marketing/advertisement; Facilities Management; Set-up/Clean Up; Food & beverage vendor coordination.

HEALTH SCREENING DAYS TEAM: TIME FRAME: (2 HR. SHIFTS DAY OF)
Health Screening Day is a two day event Tuesday, October 4, 2011 and Wednesday, October 5, 2011 it is a chance for various health volunteers to assist the school nurse with checking the vision and hearing of each of our students.



PICTURE DAYS TEAM: TIME FRAME: (2 HR. SHIFTS DAY OF)
Wednesday, September 7, 2011 is picture day for Pre K-4th grade and Thursday, September 8, 2011 for 5th-8th. A two day event in which each student gets his/her individual picture taken. Volunteers are needed to assist with class scheduling, order and payment collection; and assisting photographer with preparing children.



SPRING ARTS FESTIVAL TEAM: TIME FRAME: (WEEK OF MAY 3)
The Spring Arts Festival is a chance to showcase the art work of each grade level; projects that the children have worked on in art class as well as with Art Masterpiece throughout the year. The projects are displayed throughout the cafeteria and music building. This is a fundraiser, so there are various raffle opportunities, art purchases, and food sales. Team Members are needed for planning event and many volunteers are needed the day/week of the event.

Team Responsibilities include: Volunteer Coordination; Marketing/Signage; Art presentation; Classroom Coordination; Vendor selection; Raffle Coordination.


SCHOOL YEAR TEAMS

ART MASTERPIECE TEAM: TIME FRAME: (1 HR/MONTH)
Each month, parent volunteers present a different art lesson in the classroom and then assist the students with asimple art project. A designated artist or art style is usually specified. Past projects have included Matisse and Chinese Brush Painting. The completed projects are presented at the Spring Arts Festival.

Team Responsibilities include: Coordinating the art projects: Plan and/or participate in training sessions; Conduct art lesson; Art supply order and maintenance: Schedule classroom visits; 
Track and record projects.


COMMUNITY OUTREACH TEAM: TIME FRAME: (1 EVENT/QUARTER)
The goal is to have approximately one Community Outreach event planned per quarter. Past events have included Jam the Jars, The Trekking Program, Juvenile Diabetes Beanie Babies, Cardon Hospital Toy Drive; Jump Rope for the Heart.

Team Responsibilities include: Planning and marketing the events; Monitoring events to ensure calendar is not overbooked; Reporting on event results in Blazer and PTO meeting.



COPY CENTER TEAM: “COPY CATS” TIME FRAME: (2 HRS. BI-WEEKLY)
The teachers often have massive amounts of copying that needs to be completed each week – homework packets, class projects, lessons, etc… The “Copy Cats” work in the copy center two hours, every other week to fulfill these requests and return the copy project to the teacher.



PASSIVE FUNDRAISING TEAM: TIME FRAME: (4 HRS/MONTH)
In an effort of direct monetary donations and random product sales, the PTO has introduced the concept of passive fundraising. Passive fundraising allows you to purchase items and/or link accounts with vendors that you currently use, that will subsequently donate items to the school. Examples of some of the programs are E-Scrip website shopping; Restaurant Nights; Vendor account links (e.g. Basha’s, Fry’s, Target); Box Tops for Education; and PTO Gift Card purchases.

Team Responsibilities include: Assisting with the coordination of programs: Marketing of these programs: Developing additional opportunities to obtain donations and raise funds for Copper Ridge.


TEACHER APPRECIATION TEAM: TIME FRAME: (5 HRS/QUARTER)
There are many ways we need to thank the teachers and staff throughout the year – lunches, thank you gifts, supplies and projects and the members of this team will help develop and coordinate special activities throughout the year.

Team Responsibilities include: Coordinate food and decorations for Holiday Lunch and End of Year Teacher Lunch; Vendor Selection for thank you items; Generate other creative ideas or projects to recognize the teachers and staff.
